WASHINGTON, DC, JULY 22, 2024 – ATA Action, the American Telemedicine Association’s affiliated trade association focused on advocacy, comments on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) proposal to extend the flexibility allowing distant site practitioners to report their practice location instead of their home address through 2025:
“CMS’ proposal in the Calendar Year (CY) 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) Proposed Rule to extend the flexibility allowing appropriately licensed and credentialed providers to report their currently enrolled practice location instead of their home address when providing telehealth services from their home marks a significant win on the road to the Telehealth Super Bowl. This one-year reprieve ensures the safety and privacy of healthcare providers and reinforces our commitment to advancing telehealth services for Medicare beneficiaries,” said Kyle Zebley, senior vice president, public policy, the ATA and executive director, ATA Action. “Both the ATA and ATA Action have been at the forefront of this important issue, to eliminate an unnecessary roadblock to telehealth services and support our Medicare providers.
“We are pleased to deliver on our promise – successfully addressing providers’ critical compliance and security concerns – and will continue to advocate to make this flexibility permanent, both in the final physician fee schedule as well as in the years ahead, in order to safeguard our dedicated practitioners and enhance patient care.”
The ATA and ATA Action are currently reviewing the recently released CY2025 PFS published by CMS and will provide thorough comments to ensure that the proposed policies support sustainable, high-quality healthcare delivery.
