Dr. Bernie Elliott is chief clinical quality officer and senior vice president, UnitedHealthcare Global. He is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive global quality and performance improvement strategy for care delivery and care management across all global businesses.
Previously, Dr. Elliott served as chief clinical officer and senior vice president for Optum’s Consumer Solutions Group, where he provided clinical expertise and oversight to improve the quality and health care effectiveness of Optum’s population health management and specialty solutions. Dr. Elliott’s prior roles within UnitedHealth Group include senior national medical director, Optum Population Health Management Shared Services; and chief medical officer, Complex Medical Conditions and Provider Performance, OptumHealth.
Prior to his time with UnitedHealth Group, Bernie served as vice president of Medical Management at John Deere Health, which was later acquired by UnitedHealthcare. Under Dr. Elliott’s leadership, John Deere Health successfully implemented numerous regional and enterprise-wide strategies to improve population health, reduce the total cost of care, and improve the member and provider experience while consistently achieving Excellent NCQA accreditation for Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid products.

Dr. Elliott completed his undergraduate degree at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, and went on to earn his medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois.
